ICONIC 2 2024 Broxtowe
Back home From the ICONIC meeting 2 at Broxtowe
Where do I start , in 2wd I ran an ultima which after a few tweaks I got going really well using the lightening front shock tower from Matthew ward, and fitting a ball diff ,
Had a 1st in round and 2 x 2nds which lined me up behind Stephen Lander and finished behind him in the Final,
So 2nd it was which qualified me for the ROC (race of champions) which is a 7 minute race with RB10s which are all identical
I managed to keep it clean I wasn’t the fastest, but kept it on the track and somehow managed to not crash and win it !
Best result after trying so many times, my previous best is 2nd some 5 years ago ,
Credit to Craig Drescher RC , who used a wheel transmitter in final (he’s usually sticks) how he managed to drive with something he’s not familiar with god know, pure class
4wd I struggled a bit , with the Lazer, but after a few tweaks got it a little better, had 2 x6th in rounds that lined me up 8th on the Grid, and with the rainy changing conditions the car felt good I was upto 5th I think but a mechanical fault 3 laps before the end ment I fell back.
But a fantastic event , run by John Weston for Parkinson’s UK , and well run by the Broxtowe team , great commentary from Nathan Ralls,
And fun pitting with Matthew ward , Owain Patrick, with great bunch of people involved in the Iconic racing if I haven’t tagged you I apologise 🤣
Even Lucy HB, Tuesday Ward, and Maddy (which me and Matt dragged racing enjoyed themselves shopping 🛍️ 🤣
